An OVERVIEW
Once a successful Art Director/Graphic Designer working with Disney Press, Walter Foster and Sony, Vanessa Rothe has turned to a more traditional color palette for the past 23 years, as a professional editor/writer, curator, art dealer, lecturer and fine artist. She owned and operated Vanessa Rothe Fine Art at 418 Ocean Avenue in Laguna Beach California for 14 years, from 2010 to 2024, showcasing her work as well as many of the top international artists in contemporary realism and impressionism, both in her gallery and in collaborations with celebrated galleries and museums worldwide. Rothe currently lectures, writes editorial, paints, offers workshops and demo's and curates innovative large scale exhibitions, and continues to make her mark in the world of art.
FINE ARTIST
Vanessa Françoise Rothe was born in Hollywood and grew up in the artists’ colony of Laguna Beach, California, the daughter to a fashion designer father and French mother. She first studied Business Marketing and French literature at the University of San Diego, and UC Irvine, graduating with top honors. She then received a scholarship and had a classical art education at the Laguna College of Art and Design, achieving Dean’s list honors throughout her schooling.
After working as a graphic designer and art director for 15 years, Rothe started her fine art career with three successful solo exhibitions at Wendt Gallery in Laguna Beach from 2002-2008. Her work was included in the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auctions. She was later included in an exhibition and listed among the ”Artists for a New Century” at the Bennington Center for the Arts in 2012. Her work has since been included in important exhibitions at top galleries and museums including: Arcadia Contemporary NYC, Abend Gallery, The Richard Schmid Fine Art Auctions, Galerie Prince d “lOeil, Paris, Galerie DDG in Paris,The Salmagundi Club, J.WIllott Gallery and Coda Gallery Palm Desert, The Laguna Art Museum, Paul Scott Gallery, AZ, The American Impressionist Society Annual Exhibitions, The Bowers Museum, the California Museum of Fine Art etc. Rothe's fine art work now appears in the permanent collection at the Hilbert Museum of California Art. Vanessa is a member of the American Friends of the Musée D’Orsay, a Signature member of the American Impressionist Society and served as its Educational Director for 4 years, an Artist member of the renown Salamagundi Club NY, and artist member of Oil Painters of America. Vanessa is proudly sponsored by Raymar linen panels and Rembrandt art materials by Royal Talens NA, and promotes their fine products worldwide. Rothe is very proud to have helped the art world for the past many years selling hundreds of fine art works through her gallery and her renown annual Americans in Paris exhibitions and events.

EDITOR / AUTHOR / WRITER
After serving as West Coast editor to Fine Art Connoisseur magazine for 16 years and a founding member artist/writer for Plein Air magazine, Vanessa is now a contributing editor for American Art Collector, American Fine Art magazines and has her popular monthly column in International Artist magazine titled " Art Industry Insider" which helps artists run their art business or beginners to make the leap to professional artist. She has worked as art director at Walter Foster Publishing and 10 years later when she became a fine artist, is also the proud creator, illustrator, and published author of “ An Art School Approach to Oils, still life” published by Walter Foster in 2012 which can be found at Barnes and Noble and on Amazon . THE VRFA AMERICANS IN PARIS, FINE ART PROJECT
Vanessa is also the proud founder of an exciting fine art project, the Americans in Paris, now in its 8th successful year. This unique project that aims to inspire top artist today with the new ideas to paint, inspired by the culture and beauty of France. It started in 2015 in New York , with artist travel, workshops and bi continental group exhibitions at such venues as the Salmagundi Club in New York in 2015, 2016, 2023, at VRFA in Laguna Beach in 2021, and at Arcadia Contemporary, and Galerie Prince du L’Oeil in Paris, 2018. CURATOR
Over the past 24 years, Vanessa is honored to have curated and directed over 5 fine art exhibitions with many of the leading International artists in Realism and Impressionism, with a hint of modern, both in her gallery and for galleries, and art clubs for venues from Paris to New York to Los Angeles, such as Arcadia Contemporary and Abend, at the Salmagundi club, sThe California Museum of Fine Art booth in the LA Art Show 2015, at venues from Paris, to New York, to Los Angeles. Rothe is Curator/Founder of the Internationally acclaimed Americans in Paris Exhibitions and events, fine art project.

LECTURER
Rothe is honored to continue to lecture in Museum's and gallery's such as the Hilbert Museum, the Laguna Art Museum, Abend Gallery, Salmagundi Club. She has given live art demonstrations at Christies NYC, curated booths for the LA Art Show, curated multiple exhibitions at the Salmagundi Club NYC, served as Educational Director of the American Impressionist Society . In 2024 she is scheduled to lecture to a group in the Museums in Paris in April, and will present a lecture on Fostering Connoisseurship to the Collectors Club at the Salmagundi Club Novemeber 2024. In 2023 she presented a series of new lectures at the HILBERT Museum of California Art at Chapman University.

ART WORLD LEADERSHIP
Vanessa currently serves on the Public Relations committee for the Salmagundi Club NYC where she is an artist member, and is an artist advisor for the Hilbert museum, as well as for American Art Collector Magazine. She was proud to serve 4 years as the Educational Director of the American Impressionist Society and 1 year as the Chapter Chair leader of Orange County for the California Art Club, creating many exhibitions and educational fine art events for both organizations as well as lecturing herself on art history and fine art at the events. She was also honored to have been invited to and attended, a seminar in Venice, Italy for "The Alpine Fellowship" where she was able to discuss Art and Technology today with some of the top writers, art historians, art critics, painters and poets of today, including Ian McEwan, John Burnside, Ruth Padel, Alan Lawson, Odd Nerdrum and Roger Scruton. She is a member of the Golden Key National Honors Society.
FASHION ( SIDE FOCUS)
Her father was a clothier to the stars, making bespoke clothing for Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Vanessa grew up creating wiht her father, one of a kind painted silk logo and musical note jackets for the Rolling Stones, silk velvet hand painted jackets, silk dresses for TV shows, a paisley leather vest for the doors movie, a painted silk Hawaiian shirt for Chevy Chase in Fletch.... Rothe had input on designing and was already painting on silk at a young age. She learned to sew at the same time as learning to tie her shoes. The family business catered to actors, writers, musicians and more with unique and creative designs. Rothe continues the family tradition in her fine art work, with this alluring re occuring theme in her works of art.
